I really like that. White noise, I have to try that. I always listen to low key music on my headphones but I like the idea of switching it up. What inspired you to go the white noise route rather than the music route?
If I'm trying to think deeply I sometimes get distracted by music (because I love music and it takes me to places🙂). It kind of happened by accident. I was trying to drown out a couple arguing at a coffee shop next to me and I used the white noise to do it. I found it helped me focus and I couldn't hear a thing! I also use it on planes when I'm trying to sleep.🙂
I have finally created, just yesterday, a writing space in my home. Solely for writing. And, since it is visible from just about everywhere in my living space, every time that it catches my eye feels like a dear friend inviting me to sit with it. Maybe for just a few minutes, maybe longer, but every time long enough for a hug :)
I think what does it for me is the glow from a small lamp, just enough to illuminate the area, and by keeping the desktop cleared of anything but a keyboard, a pen holder, and a draft I’m working on. Thanks for asking!
Of course! Simplicity is key. I need to clear some of my creative space. I convince myself I need all these knick-knacks to stay focused when all I am creating more distractions for myself. Thanks for sharing a piece of your creative process with me.
Beautiful, Olu. I’m so glad I found you.
Thank you. I appreciate you being here 🙏🏿
This. This was powerful and beautiful. Thank you!
Some of the best things you discover by accident. I am for real going to start using white noise to focus when out at a cafe. Thank you for sharing 😊
Yes! Let me know how it goes!

I’m glad this resonated with you. Thank you for the support, and for being here. How do you stay present within your creative moments?
I go to nature or to a coffee shop here in Seattle. I put white noise on my headphones. It really helps me be in the moment and stay present.

I love this. Thank you for sharing. What a beautiful way to view your creative space.
I’m so very curious, what about your space makes it feel special and inviting to you?
I’m always looking for ways to make mine feel like a warm embrace.
